About
About App Brook Base
A Taipei consulting practice focused on web platform architecture and the unglamorous work of planning portal rebuilds.
Why we exist
App Brook Base started because too many portal “modernisations” in Taiwan began with a visual redesign and ended with the same brittle integrations underneath. We formed the practice to give sponsors a place to buy judgment first: architecture clarity, rebuild sequencing, and honest constraints—before another round of temporary fixes.
How we work
We sit with the people who own the portal’s pain: product owners who field partner complaints, engineers who inherit undocumented seams, and operations leads who cover cutover weekends. Sessions are structured. Notes leave the room. Recommendations name owners.
Our Taipei office hosts discovery days when teams prefer whiteboards over video. Remote sessions are available when stakeholders sit across cities.
Values that show up in the work
- Prefer a narrower rebuild that ships over a broad vision that stalls
- Write for the people who must defend the plan, not only for peers who already agree
- Keep technology vocabulary precise; avoid theatrical claims about transformation
- Respect local operating calendars, bilingual user bases, and partner notification norms common in Taiwan programmes
People
Consultants come from delivery backgrounds—portal programmes, agency rebuilds, and in-house platform teams—not from pure research labs. We stay small on purpose so engagements remain hands-on.
Community posture
We publish Field Notes on rebuild decisions and architecture trade-offs so teams outside a paid engagement can still borrow useful language. When a problem needs implementation capacity we do not have, we say so and introduce delivery partners rather than stretch the brief.
